Here is the Blue star completed with variations.

This is a c10 division with 12 pentagons.

The 1st ball on the left is interlocking pentagons, the red one in the back is layered pentagons. The 'star' ball is the one in the middle front, its stitched with interlocking pentagons in dark red and a interlocking 5 petal kiku herringbone in med blue on the short lines of the pentagons.Then I stitched a 5 point star inside the red pentagons with light blue and white threads and finally finished with a red spiderweb backstitch in the center. I loved watching this pattern grow as I stitched each element. The ball on the right in a light blue base is interlocking pentagons in dark blue and with light blue thread stitched a 5 petal kiku herringbone design but this time the points are on the long lines of the pentagons. I have one more ball to stitch with this pattern theme which I will show once its finished.

These are blue stars a class by Barb Seuss. In this class I learned how to divide an S4 into a C10. Wonderful new way!

This is the biggest temari I have ever made its 50cm in circumference.

I have been working on the April Challenge at the Temari Challange Yahoo group its a simple 12 ball that is divided into 20. These are 2 hexagons, 12 pentagons and 6 diamonds around the obi. So far I stitched a braided kiku herringbone on each of the hexagons ( north and south pole) and the same stitch is in the diamonds to look like leaves. The colours remind me of the Ukrainean Easter eggs Pysanky.

A test pattern. I had this colourful variagated thread and thought to experiment. I made some mistakes however, for example the base and the dividing threads should have been the same colour as the pentagon threads ( black). I also think a white base and white pentagons might have been a better choice to show the colours of the variagated thread.

Sunflower class, Ball 1 ready!

A wonderful class by Barb Seuss , the instructions are easy to follow and Barb is a very talented teacher.This class is the Sunflower where techniques such as kiku herringbone stitch and triwing (trefoil) are taught , and two new things for me such as the french knot and the lazy daisy. This class is still available for those interested.

I found a very fine gold and ecru thread at a tiny shop in the middle of nowhere ( so to speak), its very fine not the normal no5 I use, looks like a no12 I think ( no labels). Anyway I liked to have a go and see how it would end up. I used a 4 petal kiku herringbone stitch, I love the ''flower'' pattern at the center that was created. In real life the gold thread looks very pretty but in my photos its dull :(

I am working furiously on my temari and produced these two this week. I am learning all the basic stitches. This is a simple 8 division, I managed to space my stitching so that the threads dont buckle. I used metallic threads but the colour doesnt show so well on the one with the pink

This is my latest Temari, the Morning Glory from Barb Seuss.
I loved making this as it was filled with new stitching.

A temari learned in one of Barb Seuss Classes, its the same as this entry but with different colours. This second temari is more accurate, this can be seen by the more even pentagon in the center. Practices does make perfect, thank goodness!

I took a class with Barbara Seuss and this is the result, the main temari is the Echo star , with the instructions to this temari there is also for three more matching temari, I have finished two of them and will add the third later this week. I recommend these online classes as they are very clear and thoroughly enjoyable.

This Temari is called rainbow, I really like the colours, so bright against the black base. Its a double 8 division, still haven't mastered the vocab in temari world... But having fun learning. This was supposed to be a 4 inch ball but I managed a 3 inch ball, hence less black can be seen. Apparently the more the divisions, the bigger your ball has to be.

I saw a great jar at Ikea a few months back, I think its time to visit the store and get it!

Here it is .... my first Temari! Be warned its addictive, no sooner than I finished it I wanted to start another but it was already 2 am! I am absolutely facinated by it and want to try new designs, perhaps even manage a complicated one eventually.
